A Baroda (Gujarat) Based Scientist founded Research & Testing Laboratory called GPML(Global Plastics & Materials Laboratory) just before COVID by Investing Rs. 5 Cr in Infrastructure, Equipments, etc. Dr. Vyas is very ambitious about his new venture/start up as he has wide experience of 20 years in to his R&D field.
But Marketing is not their subject and was under pressure during Covid and Slowdown of Industries, debt getting piled up. So, they stuck up what to do to survive themselves and industry ? during lock down they got an idea to make Mask/Face Shield as seeing opportunity in to it and designed high quality Face Mask (Made in India). When they approached the market there was lot of local and Chinese competition. so, how to make a mark in these unorganized sector of Rs. 10,000 Cr and reach Crores of People ?

Strategy to make product success in market. We discussed at length about
Marketing and researched that there is no Brand in the market at present, so
let’s take early mover advantage on Brand Building rather then going to typically
advertising.
Advertisement is very big and expensive sector, various options are evaluated like whether to give advertisement in TV Media/Radio or print leaflets or Hoardings or Social media, all have different cost, audiences & impacts. Management does not want to incur unwanted cost and load it on to customer as these is not the time of profiteering/high price. They want to create Brand not the ordinary product. So, before narrowing down to focus on News Media, we suggested them to build a strong supply chain network (Procurement, Distribution network, etc), gets product certifications and complete all formalities, so that once your product gets in to limelight, demand will spur immediately and you have to fulfill the market demand in time otherwise competitor will gain the market share.
After all detailed back end work, GPML is ready to launch the Product and as a Part of Marketing Strategy, we selected Media sector organizing Press Conference in Ahmadabad as it is a hub of News agencies and easy to spread news from here.

Now, Product has made it’s place and become first branded item in PPE segment.
In India, 90% start up fails, although they have good ideas but poor in Execution and Marketing their products.
But,
these example proves that if
comprehensive planning is done and properly implemented, it works. These is the
power of Brand, we still says give us Colgate not the toothpaste !!!
